Bavaria is associated with men in lederhose and beer. Bavarian are crude and have a totally different culture and language altogether. Of course I found friends in many nice Bavarians and it is actually a very nice region, of forests and mountains.

With the Bayern ticket, up to 5 people can travel together on a ticket that costs €28 on weekends (€22 on weekdays). So, many weekends see many of us on exploration. Somehow, I only went on one trip - to Regensburg - with Hanna, Frida, Pontus and Martin.

The next semester, when everyone else went away for the holidays, I went to Augsburg with Warren one day because we had a valid Bayern ticket after taking it from Munich.

As we partied the night before in Munich, we only managed to walk around the city centre and to recharge with some caffeine in a cafe.

Summer 04, I bought a school holiday ticket for €30 that is valid for 6 weeks unlimited travel around Bavaria. I had to work in the week so I had only the weekends to travel. So the first weekend day-trip I took was to Würzburg, some 4 hours away.

Residenz

The city centre is bustling with shoppers and tourists. I think the Residenz and the garden outside is very nice, so is the Medieval Festival that was held next to the river. There were people dressed as knights and King Arthur times, drinking beers out of pewter jugs, and tents, and axes etc. If I didn't have to catch the train back, I would love to stay on and soak in the atmosphere.

Dom

Marien church

Years ago, I passed by Lindau on my way to Füssen (Neuschweinstein Castle). Everyone said it's nice and I didn't realise how nice it really is, and the closest resemblence to a sea!

The lake belongs to Germany, Austria and Switzerland and you can take a ferry to these 3 places.

It was a Sunday but most of the shops were opened! Still, it is an idyllic town. Well, there's a hospital for cosmetic surgery at the end of the town and a casino.

Fit for a retirement!

The time passed by so quickly. It was finally the last weekend before the ticket runs out so I went to Rothenburg o.d. Tauber along the Romantic Street (Romantische Strasse). Over 3 hours on the train later, I found Rothenburg not that romantic at all. It's a small town of cobbled stones and small shops. Lots of tourists and tourist shops. None of those H&M shops at all that it made me wonder where do the locals shop!

AND I ate pork knuckles at a restaurant and it wasn't good. No wonder. There were 3 Korean servers out of 4 - it was nothing but a tourist trap!
