Basically there are a few Bavarian dialect: Bairisch, Fränkisch und Schwäbisch/Allgäuerisch, with Bairisch spoken in Ober- und Niederbayern, Oberpfalz, Southern Tirol & some parts of Austrian; while Alemannische is west from Lechs where Schwäbisch is also heard. To complicate further, there are more dialect in Franken itself: rheinfränkische, thüringische und hessische Einsprengsel! "Schweinerei/Sauerei" = crying shame "Ce fix!" = short for crucifix "Schamarrn" = Rubbish! Nonsense! "Ich woaßt net" = I don't know "Ha?" = Pardon? (Please say that again] Bast scho! = Can mean "It's alright (I don't need the change of money back)" or "Phew! I got lucky again!" Guat schaugst aus! (Altbayern) = You look good! Sunntanowaddahuarumgwand (I'm amazed by the length of this word) = Sonntag-Nachmittags-Kleid Schnäpperle = Penis Schmatzbachtl = someone who talks rot Schmarrn
= Rubbish! Nonsense! Schmarrabeni = Dummkopf Saufaus = Strong drinker??
